Signal / 002 — Minecraft’s next adventure goes beyond the default route

SYSVOID SIGNAL // PLAY // SEPTEMBER 29, 2026

Close the terminal. There’s another world to explore. Minecraft’s latest announcements put discovery at the center of the next Dungeons adventure—and give builders something to watch beyond launch day.

A world with more connections

In its September Minecraft Live recap, Mojang describes Dungeons II as moving beyond the first game’s mission-based structure into an interconnected world. Rifts lead into a new dimension called the Sift, and jumping joins the toolkit for navigating the adventure.

The official game FAQ lists September 29 as the release date, with Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 among the platforms. Mojang also says you don’t need to play the original to start the sequel.

The signal for builders

There’s a longer-term connection, too: Mojang says the Sift is planned for Minecraft Java and Bedrock next year. That is a future announcement, not a feature available in those editions today.

Our take: The interesting design question is how a connected world changes the rhythm of a dungeon crawler. Does exploring between encounters become as satisfying as finding the next piece of gear? That’s something to look for in gameplay and reviews; we haven’t tested it ourselves.

For the sysVoid crowd, it’s a familiar impulse: follow the unexpected path, inspect the strange portal, and see what happens beyond the default route.
